About
Adharanand Finn’s love of running started young. From regularly winning school cross country meets to early morning training runs, Adharanand built his athlete mind and discipline. After stepping away from racing at university, Adharanand made his way back to the starting line in his 30s. His curiosity, honed by journalistic inquisition, had begun with an early fascination with Kenyan runners. His first book, Running with the Kenyans, was born. His passion for storytelling, running, travel, and cultural immersion found synchronicity in his work.
Adharanand next looked to Japan for inspiration - specifically the ekiden, a Japanese relay road race. He moved, with his wife and three children, to Japan for six months. The Way of the Runner, Adharanand’s second book, was the result. After several years and literary accolades, Adharanand “accidentally” ran an ultramarathon. Oops. His third book, The Rise of the Ultra Runners, contextualizes and historicizes ultrarunning, with Adharanand’s own story interwoven throughout.
Today, Adharanand is known for his words, his journalism (in the Guardian, the FT and Runner’s World), his podcasts, and his running retreats. His fourth book, The Running Pilgrim: Tales From A 1,400-Mile Journey Around Ireland will be published in February.
